Example: a scented jar candle (made-up numbers)
One pour fills ten jars. Here is what each candle costs.

One pour fills 10 jars and costs ฿1,000 in wax, fragrance, wicks and jars, so ฿100 a candle. Add a ฿15 gift box and ฿20 of your time, and the true cost is ฿135. Sell it at ฿350 and you keep ฿215, a margin of about 61%. One jar cracks as it cools: ฿100 of waste, and it comes off your profit. Soap works the same way: cost the batch, count the bars it cuts into, add the wrap.
Adding 50% to the cost does not mean you keep 50%
How to price candles and soap: margin, not markup
Margin is the share of the price you keep after the true cost. With made-up numbers, a ฿135 candle plus a 50% markup sells at about ฿203 and leaves about ฿68: a third of the price, not half.

FAQ
Candle and soap pricing questions, pour by pour
How do I price a handmade candle?
Start from the true cost of one candle, then pick the margin you want. Cost the pour at what you paid, shipping included, and divide by the jars it fills. Add the gift box and, if you count it, your time. Then price from margin at /tools/pricing.
How do I calculate the cost of one bar of soap?
Enter the oils, lye and fragrance at the pack price you paid, and say how many bars the batch cuts into. KamraiDee divides the cost and adds the wrap, so you see the true cost of one bar.
Is KamraiDee free for candle and soap makers?
Yes. KamraiDee is free to join. Every shop type gets the same app. Wax and oils go in as stock with shipping in the cost, and each pour or batch as a recipe with how many it makes. You also get products with their profit, packaging included, labels printed from your recipe, a waste log in baht for cracked jars, orders and a calendar, and your shop page with your PromptPay QR. See the pricing page at /pricing.
